How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Deem the Ways…
by an Anonymous Disciple
How do I love thee?
I can only count to three---
I have loved you from my past---
… I love to think of you, and sing for you
… I see you in my father, and in my brothers, too.
… My mind has drawn your image, a face that’s quite unclear
…. My heart has always longed to breathe your name in your ear.
I love you in this present---
I love to pray for you, and lift you up to God
I love to dream for you, that you will be His man.
I love to hear your voice, whether you pray or preach
But most of all I love, to see you face to face!
I love you ‘til my future---
I fear of not seeing you when this present passes
I fear not being there, when you’ll long for my presence
What I fear the most is this: that you won’t be His man.
I’ll beg one thing for sure—to see you in my future.
These are but just my ways; my hopes, my dreams, my cares
Still I trust my Father who loves me – countless ways!
(A poem written for someone I have (or haven’t) seen; but have always been an inspiration, a source of strength, a ray of hope and a joy in the heart while ‘waiting’)
